The Gram Vikas aims at helping and assisting the tribal and rural population, which include poor and marginal farmers living in abject poverty in remote rural areas of the country, by helping them acquire the benefits of improved indigenous technologies and methods with focus on economic growth, through social justice. While preserving the traditional cultural heritage, the efforts of this Voluntary Organisation will be to strike a reasonable balance between continuity and change, for a happy and prosperous life for the vital rural sector of our society. While creating social awareness among the rural masses by providing them value based education and the importance of community participation in development efforts, need for uplifting the downtrodden, and raising the general standard of living by generation of additional income through vocational trades and adoption of improved methods of cultivation etc., the endeavor will be that the age old cultural traditions and values are also duly preserved by the village folk.

Some of the important activities to be undertaken by the Foundation will be as follows:

• Conducting training programmes for the villagers for educating them about the improved techniques in agricultural operations.

• Coordination of efforts with other like-minded NGOs for educating the rural population about health and maintenance of hygienic conditions in their villages for prevention and control of diseases like malaria etc.

• Development of natural resources like

• Use of villages waste and cow dung for production of bio-gas

• Plantation of fruit-bearing trees and setting up of pilot plants for food processing industry at villages/block level

• Growing medicinal plants and herbs

• Development of village industry

• Water conservation and management

• Organic farming and production of compost (Jaivic khad) and promotion of village industry and vocational trades like bee-keeping, carpet/basket weaving etc.

• Employment generation through application of scientific methods for best possible utilization of available human-power and material resources will be the focal activity of the Foundation.
